Topic

Updated nfs-utils packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

Description

The nfs-utils packages provide a daemon for the kernel Network File System (NFS) server and related tools, which provides better performance than the traditional Linux NFS server used by most users. These packages also contain the mount.nfs, umount.nfs, and showmount programs.

This update fixes the following bug:

  • Previously, NFS did not allow you to override the "noexec", "nosuid", and "nodev" options, which are automatically added for NFS shares mounted with the "users" option. With this update, specifying the "exec", "suid", or "dev" options in the /etc/fstab file now correctly overrides the default options. As a result, the described problem no longer occurs. (BZ#1594707)

Users of nfs-utils are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug. After installing this update, the nfs service will be restarted automatically.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
