An updated Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Tools container image is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras.

Description

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Tools (rhel7/rhel-tools) container image includes hundreds of software tools for troubleshooting and investigating a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host system. This container allows you to interact directly with the system to uncover and solve problems. Inside the container are popular tools such as sosreport, kdump, and many others; most of them are not installed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Atomic Host.

The rhel7/rhel-tools container image has been updated for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extras to address following security advisories: RHSA-2018:2748 [1]

Users of rhel7/rhel-tools container images are advised to upgrade to these updated images, which contain backported patches to correct these security issues. Users of these images are also encouraged to rebuild all container images that depend on these images.

Solution

The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Extras container image provided by this update can be downloaded from the Red Hat Container Registry at registry.access.redhat.com. Installation instructions for your platform are available at Red Hat Container Catalog [3]

Dockerfiles and scripts should be amended either to refer to this new image specifically, or to the latest image generally.
