An updated sos package that fixes two bugs is now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 7.2 Advanced Update Support.

Description

The sos package contains a set of utilities that gather information from system
hardware, logs, and configuration files. The information can then be used for
diagnostic purposes and debugging.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, the sosreport tool failed to collect various logfiles that contained non-ASCII characters. This update properly decodes such logfiles during parsing, allowing to collect them properly. (BZ#1600054)
• Previously, when the xz binary was not present on the system, the sosreport tool tracebacked when attempting to compress the final archive tarball file. As a consequence, only unpacked tarballs were available. With this update, a new check of the presence of any present compression program is made before using it. As a result, sosreport now fall backs to a different compression algorithm, preserving the same user experience. (BZ#1601866)

Users of sos are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes these bugs.

Solution

relevant to your system have been applied.
