Updated sos packages that fix two bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

Description

The sos package contains a set of utilities that gather information from system hardware, logs, and configuration files. The information can then be used for diagnostic purposes and debugging.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, the sosreport tool did not detect the Content Delivery Server (CDS) nodes in Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) 3. As a consequence, the rhui-debug script was called incorrectly and did not collect the proper RHUI debug data. With this update, sosreport properly detects a CDS node by checking if the rhui-mirrorlist package is present. As a result, rhui-debug properly collects RHUI 3 data from a CDS node. (BZ#1596496)
• Previously, when the sosreport tool tried to collect a file with certain non-ASCII characters, it failed with raising an exception. As a consequence, the current file and the subsequent files from the same plug-in were not collected. With this update, the string processing of files was improved to handle all Unicode characters. Now, even files with non-ASCII characters are collected. (BZ#1599234)

Users of sos are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.

Solution

relevant to your system have been applied.
