Updated kmod-kvdo packages that fix two bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The kmod-kvdo packages provide the kernel module for Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO), which is a block virtualization technology that enables you to create compressed and deduplicated pools of block storage.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• When a process was reading Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO) statistics provided through the sysfs interface, the system code was performing a sleep operation while holding a lock. This sometimes caused the system to halt unexpectedly. With this update, the code no longer sleeps while there is a lock held. As a result, the described problem no longer occurs. (BZ#1567742)
• When a process was reading Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO) sysfs entries while a VDO volume was starting up or shutting down, the process and the VDO task sometimes became unresponsive or terminated unexpectedly. With this update, the sysfs entries are created and released at the correct time. As a result, the described problem no longer occurs. (BZ#1567744)

Users of kmod-kvdo are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.
