Topic

Updated packages that resolve various issues are now available for Red Hat
OpenStack Platform 8.0 (Liberty) for RHEL 7.

Description

Red Hat OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for building a private
or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud running on commonly
available physical hardware.

This update addresses the following issues:

  • Previously, filtering was not as narrow as expected, because the FC scanning mechanism tries to limit the scanning range, but incorrectly used the local WWNN instead of the target's WWPN.

With this update, the FC scanning mechanism uses the target's WWPNs, taking into account FC Zone and access control information if it is present. As a result, scanning is now as narrow as possible.

  • Previously, running a command while building images would cause file capabilities to drop. Consequently, commands such as "ping", which rely on file capabilities in order to allow use by regular users, were not usable by regular users. With this update, the command was changed to maintain file capabilities correctly. As a result, ping can be used by regular users in RHEL OpenStack Platform images.

Solution

Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.

Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8 runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4.

The Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8 Release Notes contain the following:

  • An explanation of the way in which the provided components interact to

form a working cloud computing environment.

  • Technology Previews, Recommended Practices, and Known Issues.
  • The channels required for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 8, including which

channels need to be enabled and disabled.

The Release Notes are available at:
