Updated rhn-i18n-guides, spacewalk-backend, spacewalk-java, spacewalk-schema, satellite-doc-indexes, and satellite-schema packages that fix several bugs and add various enhancements are now available for Red Hat Satellite 5.7.

Description

Red Hat Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based infrastructure. It allows for provisioning, remote management, and monitoring of multiple Linux deployments with a single centralized tool.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Prior to this update it was not possible to subscribe to the RHEL 7.3 EUS channel for systems subscribed to RHEL 7.2 EUS. (BZ#1466006)
• During Inter Satellite Sync (ISS) of Kickstart files to a slave Satellite, cdn-sync inserts a SHA256 checksum for each file. However, the slave Satellite could only parse an MD5 checksum from an XML export, any other checksum was ignored and the sync failed with a database dependent error message. For an Oracle database, "SYNC ERROR: unhandled exception occurred" was displayed. For a PostgreSQL database, "ERROR: Encountered IntegrityError" was displayed. (BZ#1473784)
• Previously, if an erratum was synced into multiple organizations, functionality of certain tools like spacewalk-clone-by-date was affected. The code has been improved to include the organization ID in tests for a unique result, and the problem no longer occurs. (BZ#1500185)
• Minor improvements to the schema upgrade and the schema population process have been made. (BZ#1490375)
• The PostgreSQL fix for BZ#1458880 "DEADLOCK: reactivation-key, snapshot_server(), register/delete" was not complete in the previous erratum. This update completes the fix. (BZ#1500612)
• After upgrading from 5.6 to 5.7, the Kickstart URL might have been broken. This is now resolved. (BZ#1500741)

Users of Red Hat Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.

Solution

Application of this erratum involves updating the database schema.

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant to your system have been applied. To apply this erratum, take the following steps:

• Shut down Red Hat Satellite by running the following command as root:

rhn-satellite stop

• Backup the database. For embedded or managed database variants, please consult Red Hat Satellite 5.8 documentation. For an external database, consult your database administrator.
• Upgrade the errata packages. Details on how to apply this update are available at https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/11258
• Update the database schema using the spacewalk-schema-upgrade command. To do so, run as root:

spacewalk-schema-upgrade

This process will update your database schema to the latest version. The spacewalk-schema-upgrade command will inform you about the results of the upgrade and exact locations of schema upgrade log files.

• Restart Red Hat Satellite by running the following as root:

rhn-satellite start
