Updated initscripts packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
Description
The initscripts packages contain basic system scripts that boot the system, change runlevels, activate and deactivate most network interfaces, and shut down the system cleanly.
This update fixes the following bug:
- Previously, the initscripts service broke Linux Virtual Server (LVS) load balancing with direct routing for some customers, who relied on unsupported configuration to disable Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) packets sending. With this update, the ARPUPDATE ifcfg option has been introduced in initscripts. It controls whether to update neighboring computers with ARP information about the current Network Interface Controller (NIC). When the ARPUPDATE option is set to "no", ARP packets sending is disabled, and, as a result, the unsupported configuration for LVS with direct routing works as expected. (BZ#1490943)
Users of initscripts are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
Solution
