Synopsis
openstack-heat bug fix advisory
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Insights patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated OpenStack Orchestration packages that resolve various issues are
now available for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10.0 (Newton) for RHEL 7.
Description
Red Hat OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for building, deploying
and monitoring a private or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud
running on commonly available physical hardware. This advisory includes
packages for:
- OpenStack Orchestration service
OpenStack Orchestration (heat) is a template-driven engine used to specify
and deploy configurations for Compute, Storage, and OpenStack Networking.
It can also be used to automate post-deployment actions, which in turn
allows automated provisioning of infrastructure, services, and
applications. Orchestration can also be integrated with Telemetry alarms to
implement auto-scaling for certain infrastructure resources.
With this update, openstack-heat-templates is now re-based to version
a7243bc. (BZ#1489138) This applies the following fixes:
- If a stack was created using a version of Heat from RHEL-OSP 7 or earlier,
listing resources for the stack would fail beginning with the Heat version
from OSP 10, with an error calculating the 'required_by' data. In
addition, even for stacks created with later versions of Heat, the
'required_by' field was not populated, unless the convergence_engine
option was enabled (which is the default starting with OSP 10) at the
time the stack was created. Heat now correctly populates the 'required_by'
field without error.
(BZ#1477891)
- During resource listing, resources that are not in the template but
in are the database would be filtered out from the listing (as in,
resources from legacy stacks with an update in progress).
(BZ#1487162)
Solution
Before applying this update, ensure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10 runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4.
The Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10 Release Notes contain the following:
