Topic
An updated cloud-init package that fixes two bugs is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
Description
The cloud-init package provides a set of init scripts for cloud instances. Cloud instances need special scripts to run during initialization to retrieve and install ssh keys, and to let the user run various scripts.
This update fixes the following bugs:
- Previous versions of cloud-init were sensitive to incorrectly formatted vendor data provided by the cloud environment. This could cause cloud-init to terminate unexpectedly before configuring authentication credentials on the system. As a consequence, cloud-init was not able to configure credentials, which would make it impossible to log in to a newly provisioned cloud server. This bug has been fixed, and the system now works as expected. (BZ#1449994)
- Previously, cloud-init failed to fetch metadata in the OpenStack environment when the controller node was under high workload. As a consequence, cloud-init terminated unexpectedly. With this update, cloud-init applies the datasource timeout value from the cloud.cfg file to fetch metadata. As a result, the operator can adjust how long cloud-init waits for the metadata service to respond. (BZ#1452208)
Users of cloud-init are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.
