RHBA-2017:1459 - Bug Fix Advisory
Synopsis
openstack-cinder bug fix advisory
Type/Severity
Bug Fix Advisory
Red Hat Lightspeed patch analysis
Identify and remediate systems affected by this advisory.
Topic
Updated OpenStack Block Storage packages that resolve various issues are
now available for Red Hat OpenStack Platform 9.0 (Mitaka) for RHEL 7.
Description
Red Hat OpenStack Platform provides the facilities for building a private
or public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud running on commonly
available physical hardware. This advisory includes packages for:
- OpenStack Block Storage service
OpenStack Block Storage (cinder) manages block storage mounting and the
presentation of such mounted block storage to instances. The back-end
physical storage can consist of local disks, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, and/or
NFS mounts attached to Compute nodes. In addition, Block Storage supports
volume backups, and snapshots for temporary save and restore operations.
Programmatic management is available through the Block Storage service's
API.
Changes to the openstack-cinder component:
- Cause: bug in "cinder-manage db purge"
Consequence: Failure to purge the deleted volume from the Cinder database due to mishandling of foreign key constraints.
Fix: Modify the db purge operation to remove necessary volume metadata as part of purging the volume.
Result: "cinder-manage db purge" no longer fails. (BZ#1396320)
- Cause: Concurrent requests to create a cinder volume from the same glance image could result in multiple entries in cinder's image cache.
Consequence: Duplicate cinder image cache entries for the same image wastes space.
Fix: Added a synchronization lock to prevent multiple entries in the image cache. The first request to create a cinder volume from a glance image will be cached, and all other requests will use the cached image.
Result: Simultaneous requests to create a cinder volume from a glance image will not generate more than one entry in the cinder image cache. (BZ#1434500)
