Updated keepalived packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

The keepalived utility provides simple and robust facilities for load balancing and high availability. The load balancing framework relies on the well-known and widely used IP Virtual Server (IPVS) kernel module providing layer-4 (transport layer) load balancing. Keepalived implements a set of checkers to dynamically and adaptively maintain and manage a load balanced server pool according to the health of the servers. Keepalived also implements the Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRPv2) to achieve high availability with director failover.

This update fixes the following bug:

• Previously, the keepalived utility attempted to close a large number of file descriptors each time a notification script was invoked. As a consequence, keepalived generated many unnecessary close() system calls in an attempt to close file descriptors that were not open. This bug has been fixed by using the SOCK_CLOEXEC flag when opening all sockets, and the FD_CLOEXEC flag when opening all file descriptors. As a result, the number of close() system calls is no longer excessive. (BZ#1429880)

Users of keepalived are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.
