Updated polkit packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 Extended Update Support.

Description

The polkit packages provide a component for controlling system-wide privileges. This component provides a uniform and organized way for non-privileged processes to communicate with privileged ones.

This update fixes the following bug:

• Previously, the polkit daemon (polkitd) was not able to correctly free all

memory allocated during normal operation. Consequently, the memory allocated to polkitd continued to grow. When the system ran out of memory, the kernel
terminated the process unexpectedly. This bug has been fixed and the polkitd now can free the memory as expected. (BZ#1418935)

Users of polkit are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this bug.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
