Topic

Updated spacewalk-java packages that fix several bugs and add various enhancements are now available for Red Hat Satellite 5.7.

Description

Red Hat Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based infrastructure. It allows for provisioning, remote management, and monitoring of multiple Linux deployments with a single centralized tool.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Prior to this update, newly created or updated kickstart profiles contained an incorrect URL to download kickstart distribution. This has been fixed and the URL is now correct. (BZ#1398248)
  • Prior to this update, taskomatic sometimes terminated unexpectedly if a different action altered the same data in the database already being processed by taskomatic. This has been fixed. (BZ#1240597)
  • Prior to this update, it was not possible to create kickstart profiles based on Fedora kickstart trees. This has been fixed. (BZ#1388112)
  • Prior to this update, taskomatic channel repodata generation sometimes stopped working if any package from the channel being processed was removed from Satellite during repodata generation. This has been fixed. (BZ#1398383)
  • When trying to provision multiple clients using PXE, the API sometimes deadlocked when working with Activation Keys. This erratum provides a fix for this case. (BZ#1388160)
  • The Oracle implementation of the "lock_counts" stored procedure failed to correctly acquire all required locks. This could lead to deadlocks when large numbers of systems were registering simultaneously. This erratum fixes the affected stored procedure. (BZ#1402933)

Users of Red Hat Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant to your system have been applied. To apply this erratum, take the following steps:

  • Shut down Red Hat Satellite by running the following command as root:

rhn-satellite stop

  • Upgrade the errata packages. Details on how to apply this update are available at https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/11258
  • Restart Red Hat Satellite by running the following as root:

rhn-satellite start

Affected Products

  • Red Hat Satellite 5.7 x86_64

  • BZ - 1388112 - Fedora distribution isn't shown in wizard of creating kickstart profile
  • BZ - 1388160 - Satellite 5.7: Deadlock with system.obtainReactivationKey API call
  • BZ - 1398248 - unable to PXE provision: http://<fqdn>/rhn/kickstart/... gives 302 to https://...
  • BZ - 1398383 - taskomatic channel repodata task doesn't handle exception when package is removed during generation
  • BZ - 1402933 - [5.7] lock_counts fix has several issues
