Updated ypserv packages that fix two bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The ypserv utility provides network information (login names, passwords, home directories, group information) to all of the machines on a network. It can enable users to log in on any machine on the network as long as the machine has the Network Information Service (NIS) client programs running and the user's password is recorded in the NIS passwd database. NIS was formerly known as Sun Yellow Pages (YP).

This update fixes the following bugs:

• When replicating NIS maps from a Windows NIS master server over a low-quality connection, ypserv in some cases did not transfer the masterOrderNum value, and the slave server used the UNIX timestamp value instead. This sometimes caused a variety of problems, including migration failure and data corruption on the slave server. With this update, masterOrderNum is not set to the UNIX timestamp value when the transfer fails, and ypserv reports an error. As a result, replication from the Windows NIS master server to the slave server works as expected. (BZ#1305137)
• Previously, when migrating a NIS database over a low-quality connection, migration sometimes failed due to the use of an incorrect file handle when processing the ypxfr_foreach request. This update ensures that ypserv uses the correct file handle in the described scenario, and the migration thus succeeds as expected. (BZ#1401907)

Users of ypserv are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.
