Updated Samba package that adds one enhancement is now available for Red
Hat Gluster Storage 3.1.

Description

Samba is an implementation of the server message block (SMB) protocol. It
allows the networking of Microsoft Windows®, Linux, UNIX, and other
operating systems together, enabling access to Windows-based file and
printer shares. Samba's use of SMB allows it to appear as a Windows server
to Windows clients.

This advisory includes an updated package that fixes a bug.

• With the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 , the version of Samba installed with Red Hat Gluster Storage will be replaced by the newer Samba version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. As a consequence, the SMB features of the Red Hat Gluster Storage installation will stop working.

With this update, the Samba version of Red Hat Gluster Storage is updated so that it is not overwritten by the Samba version in Red Hat Enterprise Linux. You must install this update either prior to or along with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux update. This ensures continued functionality of
the SMB features of the Red Hat Gluster Storage installation. (BZ #1352401)

Users of the Samba packages in Red Hat Gluster Storage are advised to
update to the packages provided in this advisory.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
