Red Hat Satellite 6.2 now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6 and 7

Description

Red Hat Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based infrastructures. It allows for provisioning, remote management and monitoring of multiple Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool. It performs provisioning and configuration management of predefined standard operating environments.

This update provides a set of base packages for the Satellite server and capsule. For the full list of new features provided by Satellite 6.2 see the Release Notes linked to in the references section. Please see the Satellite 6 Installation Guide for detailed instructions on how to install or upgrade from prior versions of Satellite 6.

All users who require Satellite version 6.2 are advised to install these new packages.

Changes to the Configuration Management component:

• As part of upgrading to the latest Puppet 3.x version, the hiera package has now been updated to 1.3. (BZ#1297834)
• Red Hat Satellite 6.2 upgrades to the 3.8 stream of puppet. (BZ#1217527)

Changes to the Performance component:

• Extraneous progress tracking was slowing package installation via Satellite 6.1. This tracking has been removed, and performance is much improved. (BZ#1277292)

Changes to the Users & Roles component:

• With this release, a "Test Connection" button was added to verify LDAP connection information. (BZ#1144232)
• Satellite 6.2 provides improvements to the integration of Active Directory. (BZ#1315258)

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied and that the Satellite is updated to the most recent 6.1.x release.
