Updated rt-tests packages that fix several bugs and add various enhancements are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The rt-tests packages include a set of programs that test and measure various components of real-time kernel behavior. These packages measure timer, signal, process migration, and hardware latency and test the functioning of priority-inheritance mutexes.

The rt-tests packages have been upgraded to upstream version 1.0, which provides a number of bug fixes and enhancements over the previous version. Notably:

• rt-migrate-test, which tests process migration between CPUs, has been added
• Now, rt-tests make use of numa_parse_cpustring_all() to include CPUs outside of the affinity mask
• A new feature in cyclictest: recording spikes
• A new feature in cyclictest: counting and detecting System Management Interrupts (SMIs) using the Model-Specific Register/System Management Interrupts (MSR/SMI) counter
• A new tracemark option for cyclictest that enables tracing using a tracing program such as trace-cmd
• Updates and fixes to many rt-tests programs, including rt-migrate-test, hwlatdetect, cyclictest, and hackbench

Users of rt-tests are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs and add these enhancements.
