Updated cobbler and spacewalk-java packages that fix several bugs are now
available for Red Hat Satellite 5.7.

Description

Red Hat Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based infrastructures.
It allows for provisioning, remote management and monitoring of multiple Linux
deployments with a single, centralized tool.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, it was possible that due to wrong ordering of kickstart

post_install snippets system ended up with unknown host name in the Satellite
database. With this update, kickstart snippets are now ordered correctly and
systems have their host name set properly. (BZ#700819)

• Previously, the "Monitoring Notification Method" page in Satellite WebUI

incorrectly displayed the message format check box as always selected. This bug
has been fixed, and the check box now behaves as expected. (BZ#1209643)

• The satpasswd command failed to set password for user name which has contained

dash ('-'). This bug has been fixed, and satpasswd now sets passwords for the
aforementioned users correctly. (BZ#1235827)

• Prior to this update, in some cases Satellite did not recognize the hypervisor

for virtual systems reported by virt-who. With this update, the taskomatic bunch
"uuid-cleanup" ("UUID cleanup") has been added, which is running once an hour by
default. As a consequence, hypervisors are now recognized correctly.

• Previously, the satellite-sync command occasionally failed with the following

message:

IntegrityError: null value in column "package_id" violates not-null
constraint

With this update, the error message has been modified to instruct users to clean
the synchronization cache, which prevents the synchronization failure.

• With this update, missing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 EUS channel has been

added to the "Update Software" page in Satellite WebUI. (BZ#1282474)

• Under certain circumstances, running the rhn_check command in different locale

than en_US led to Unicode decode errors. This bug has been fixed in Satellite.
The second part of the fix will be released with next versions of Red Hat
Enterprise Linux. (BZ#1297752)

• Previously, the rhn-satellite-exporter command sometimes used invalid queries

with the --whole-errata option. Consequently, rhn-satellite-explorer terminated
unexpectedly, or produced output with missing errata IDs. With this update,
rhn-satellite-exporter uses correct queries. (BZ#1302817)

• Under certain circumstances, the satellite-sync command could link errata to

channels without related packages causing invalid links between errata and
packages. This bug has been fixed and satellite-sync is now working correctly.
Existing channels with this problem can be fixed by running satellite-sync with
the --force-all-errata option. (BZ#1303524)

• Prior to this update, Satellite did not update UUID for re-registered virtual

systems. With this update, UUID is updated correctly. (BZ#1301137)

• Previously, when applying Errata with keyword `requires_reboot` after a

scheduled reboot, the "The system requires a reboot" message was incorrectly
displayed. This bug has been fixed, and the message is now only displayed if
reboot is really required. (BZ#1311148)

Users of Red Hat Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix these bugs.

Solution

Application of this errata involves updating the database schema.

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant
to your system have been applied. To apply this erratum, take the following
steps:

• Shut down Red Hat Satellite by running the following command as root:

rhn-satellite stop

• Upgrade the errata packages. Details on how to apply this update are available

at https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/11258

• Restart Red Hat Satellite by running the following as root:

rhn-satellite start
