Topic

An updated targetcli package that fixes several bugs and adds various enhancements is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The targetcli package contains an administration shell for configuring Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI), Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), and other SCSI targets, using the Target Core Mod/Linux-IO (TCM/LIO) kernel target subsystem. FCoE users also need to install and use the fcoe-utils package.

The targetcli package has been upgraded to upstream version 2.1.fb41, which provides a number of bug fixes and enhancements over the previous version, notably:

• Previously, the "sessions detail" command did not work properly and generated an error. Now, "sessions detail" lists information about a current iSCSI session as expected.
• Previously, running the targetcli utility without root privileges led to an exception and traceback. A message telling the user to try again as root is now displayed in the described situation.
• Tab completion can now be used for file name arguments with the "saveconfig" and "restoreconfig" commands.
• An "auto_add_default_portal" global preference has been added. If "auto_add_default_portal" is set to true, which is the default value, creating an iSCSI target automatically adds a default portal that listens at port 3260 on all interfaces. If "auto_add_default_portal" is set to false, the user has to configure the portals manually.
• Target parameters and attributes are now documented, accessible by the "help" command.
• The targetcli(8) manual page now contains better instructions on how to restore settings on reboot by enabling target.service.

This update also fixes the following bug:

• Previously, the "delete ." command within a target configuration node caused the targetcli utility to terminate unexpectedly. With this update, targetcli no longer crashes in the described situation. (BZ#1209434)

Users of targetcli are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes these bugs and adds these enhancements.
