Topic

An updated python-blivet package that fixes several bugs and adds various enhancements is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The python-blivet package contains Blivet, a Python module for examining and modifying storage configuration.

The python-blivet packages have been upgraded to upstream version 0.61.15, which provides a number of bug fixes and enhancements over the previous version. (BZ#1202877)

This update also fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, an attempt to reinstall Red Hat Enterprise Linux on storage containing Logical Volume Manager (LVM) volume groups with duplicate names failed and an uninformative error message was returned. With this update, Blivet correctly detects LVM volume groups with duplicate names, and displays an error with suggestions on how to correct the problem before proceeding with the installation. • Before this update, the size of the ext4 file systems created with the Anaconda installation program was limited to 16 TiB, even though ext4 supports significantly larger file systems. With this update, the upper limit has been increased to 1 EiB. (BZ#1231049)

In addition, this update adds the following enhancement:

• The "--mkfsoptions" option is now available for the kickstart "part" command. It allows passing options to the mkfs.* command that is invoked with "part". As a result, it is possible precisely control the options used to create the file system. (BZ#1220898)

Users of python-blivet are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes these bugs and adds these enhancements.
