Topic

Updated libvirt-python packages that fix several bugs and add various enhancements are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The libvirt-python packages contain a module that permits applications written in the Python programming language to use the interface supplied by the libvirt library to use the virtualization capabilities of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. These packages were previously shipped within the libvirt packages.

The libvirt-python packages have been upgraded to upstream version 1.2.17, which provides a number of bug fixes and enhancements over the previous version. (BZ#1194594)

This update also fixes the following bug:

• The block copy operation has previously been adjusted to change the disk type of the copied disk to "file". However, using block copy for moving block-based storage thus converted the new target to an incorrect type. Consequently, if a virtual disk was backed by a block device rather than a file, libvirt did not report the allocation information necessary to track a thin-provisioned volume. This update introduces a libvirt flag that makes it possible to specify that the target will be treated as a block device. As a result, users can now perform a block copy to a block target correctly. In addition, this update adds the following enhancement:

• The nodestats.py script has been added to libvirt-python. When used, the script displays information about every host Non-Uniform Memory Access (NUMA) node's total memory, free memory, and the amount of memory the node has bound to each running domain. (BZ#105149)

Users of libvirt-python are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs and add these enhancements.
