Updated dmidecode packages that fix two bugs are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The dmidecode packages provide utilities for extracting Intel 64 and Intel Itanium hardware information from the system BIOS or Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI), depending on the SMBIOS/DMI standard. This information typically includes system manufacturer, model name, serial number, BIOS version, and asset tag, as well as other details, depending on the manufacturer.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, on HP ProLiant Gen9 hardware, the "dmidecode -t 209" command did not correctly return OEM-specific network interface records. This update fixes the problem, and "dmidecode -t 209" now works as expected in the described scenario. (BZ#1232501)
• Prior to this update, the dmidecode utility did not support the DDR4 type of memory. Consequently, compiling dmidecode code for hardware with the DDR4 memory type produced unexpected results. Now, dmidecode supports DDR4 and compiles as expected. (BZ#1235392)

Users of dmidecode are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix these bugs.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
