Topic

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager 3.5.4 is now available.

Description

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager is a visual tool for centrally
managing collections of virtual servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux
and Microsoft Windows. This package also includes the Red Hat Enterprise
Virtualization Manager API, a set of scriptable commands that give
administrators the ability to perform queries and operations on Red Hat
Enterprise Virtualization Manager.

The Manager is a JBoss Application Server application that provides several
interfaces through which the virtual environment can be accessed and interacted
with, including an Administration Portal, a User Portal, and a Representational
State Transfer (REST) Application Programming Interface (API).

Bug fixes and enhancements with this update include:

Changes to the ovirt-engine-backend component:

  • Previously, when the 'Clone VM' operation failed after the clone of disks

started, but before it finished, and the cleanup of disks succeeded, the
subsequent cleanup of the virtual machine deleted the source virtual machine.
This caused cases in which the source virtual machine disappeared, but the
destination virtual machine was not created. With this update, when cloning
fails as described here, the source virtual machine and the source disks stay in
the environment and the destination virtual machine is properly cleaned.
(BZ#1236608)

Changes to the ovirt-engine-userportal component:

  • Previously, common code shared between the User Portal and Administration

Portal caused both of them to use the search syntax checker functionality, while
it was only needed by the Administration Portal's search panel. This caused
extremely slow login times in the User Portal on Internet Explorer 8. Now,
search syntax checker handling has been optimized so that it is only used in the
Administration Portal code. This significantly improves the User Portal's login
time on Internet Explorer 8. (BZ#1223836)

Changes to the RFEs component:

  • With this release, Korean is now a supported locale in the Red Hat Enterprise

Virtualization Manager portals. (BZ#1234134)
