Topic

Updated spamassassin packages that fix several bugs and add various enhancements
are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The SpamAssassin tool provides a way to reduce unsolicited commercial email
(spam) from incoming email.

The spamassassin packages have been upgraded to upstream version 3.4.0, which
provides a number of bug fixes and enhancements over the previous version,
including support for Bayesian filtering using the Redis back end. (BZ#1065161)

This update also fixes the following bugs:

  • Due to a missing "-f" option in the source code, the sa-update.cron script did

not work correctly with the pgrep utility. With this update, pgrep is used
correctly and all running services can be found as expected in the described
situation. (BZ#1145642)

  • Previously, the sa-update.cron script was not ready to be used with the

systemd service and looked for init script files. As a consequence, condrestart
was not performed when the amavisd-new interface was used. With this update,
SpamAssassin works with systemd correctly. (BZ#1145652)

Users of spamassassin are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
fix these bugs and add these enhancements.
