Updated spice-vdagent packages that fix several bugs are now available for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The spice-vdagent packages provide a SPICE agent for Linux guests.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• The SPICE agent, spice-vdagent, was not automatically launched when the GNOME

Display Manager (GDM) was started. Consequently, arbitrary window resolution did
not work correctly. Also, the user was not able to copy and paste text from a
client to a guest that ran GDM. With this update, spice-vdagent is started when
GDM is launched. As a result, arbitrary window resolution works as expected, and
the user is able to copy and paste text in the described scenario. (BZ#1052172)

• Previously, spice-vdagent did not handle certain clipboard formats correctly.

As a consequence, it was no possible to perform copy and paste operations from a
client to Linux guests that were running a VNC client or a Motif application.
The SPICE agent has been modified to handle the clipboards formats properly, and
copy and paste operations now work as expected. (BZ#1130218)

• When the user upgraded from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 to Red Hat Enterprise

Linux 7, spice-vdagent logged twice to the rsyslog utility. This behavior was
caused by an incorrect rsyslog configuration file. This file has been removed,
and spice-vdagent now logs only once as expected. (BZ#1136881)

Users of spice-vdagent are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
fix these bugs.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
