Topic

An updated pykickstart package that fixes one bug and adds various enhancements is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The pykickstart package contains a Python library for manipulating Kickstart files.

This update fixes the following bug:

• Prior to this update, an error in the pykickstart code caused the kickstart installation to fail when using the "logvol swap" command with the "--recommended" option but without the "--size" option. This error has been corrected and the kickstart installation no longer crashes in the described situation. (BZ#1149718)

In addition, this update adds the following enhancements:

• The "--install" option has been added to the "repo" command. Using "--install" prompts the Anaconda installer to create a file for the specified repository in the /etc/yum.repos.d/ directory. This ensures that the repository remains available for use after the kickstart installation is complete. (BZ#1129913)
• The "bootloader --disabled" option has been added, which when used prevents the bootloader package from being included in the installed system, and also prevents the installation of the bootloader code to the disk. In addition, this update adds the "%package --nocore" option, which prevents Anaconda from installing the @core package group. These syntax additions allow for the installation of extremely minimal systems, aimed to be used with containers. However, the described options are strongly discouraged for general purpose installations, because using them can lead to creating a system that is not able to boot. (BZ#1125409)
• With this update, pykickstart instead of Anaconda detects errors relating to specifying VLAN device names with the "network" command, as well as errors related to specifying size with the "logvol" command. This ensures that the user is visibly warned and the installation is aborted when these errors occur. (BZ#1081982, BZ#1117908)
• It is now possible to override the default file system type when using the "autopart" command by adding the "--fstype" option. (BZ#1129912)

Users of pykickstart are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which fixes this bug and adds these enhancements.
