Updated systemd packages that fix two bugs are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 7.

Description

The systemd packages contain systemd, a system and service manager for Linux,
compatible with the SysV and LSB init scripts. It provides aggressive
parallelization capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting
services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, and keeps track of processes
using Linux cgroups. In addition, it supports snapshotting and restoring of the
system state, maintains mount and automount points, and implements an elaborate
transactional dependency-based service control logic. It can also work as a
drop-in replacement for sysvinit.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, some KVM over IP devices did not work correctly with USB power

management enabled. As a consequence, keyboard and mouse did not work correctly
on a remote console during and after installation, so the user had to connect
devices physically. With this update, USB power management is no longer enabled
for the aforementioned devices, and keyboard and mouse now work correctly in
this situation. (BZ#1176736)

• Prior to this update, cgroup trees with multiple writers were insufficiently

handled, and, as a consequence, the systemd daemon removed cgroups created by
the libvirtd daemon. To fix this bug, a new option, Delegate, controlling
creation of cgroup subhierarchies has been implemented which turns on resource
delegation. This option defaults to "on" for machine scopes created by the
systemd-machined daemon. As a result, cgroups created by libvirtd are no longer
removed. (BZ#1179715)

Users of systemd are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix
these bugs.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
