Updated autofs packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 6.

Description

The autofs utility controls the operation of the automount daemon. The daemon
automatically mounts file systems when in use and unmounts them when they are
not busy.

This update fixes the following bug:

• Previously, when the "ls [*]" command was run within an autofs managed

directory and no directories existed in the autofs managed directory, the
autofs utility attempted to mount the key literally. As a consequence,
the autofs managed directory was added to the negative cache. If this action was
executed before a valid mount, subsequent mount attempts inside the autofs mount
failed, no matter whether they were valid or not. With this update, the wildcard
key is no longer added to the negative cache, and thus the wildcard map entry
works correctly in the described scenario. (BZ#1170887)

Users of autofs are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix this
bug.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
