Topic

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager 3.4.4 is now available.

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager is a visual tool for centrally
managing collections of virtual servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux
and Microsoft Windows. This package also includes the Red Hat Enterprise
Virtualization Manager API, a set of scriptable commands that give
administrators the ability to perform queries and operations on Red Hat
Enterprise Virtualization Manager.

Description

Changes to the ovirt-engine-backend component:

  • Previously, the America/New_York timezone mapping ignored the Daylight Savings

Time and caused the guest time for virtual machines with this timezone to have
incorrect time on certain dates. With this update, the America/New_York is now
mapped having the Daylight Savings Time information taken into account and
virtual machines display the correct time. (BZ#1159849)

  • Previously, failing to attach an ISO domain caused the SPM to fail over and

start a new SPM election attempt. This behavior caused a potential failover
storm if the domain itself was corrupted, leaving the system without an SPM for
a prolonged time. With this update, a failed attempt to attach an ISO domain to
a datacenter will trigger an error message, but will not cause the SPM to fail
over. (BZ#1157212)

  • The REST API did not take into account of the current state of the ballooning

device during the mapping of the incoming XML into an internal business entity.
Instead of keeping the state of the ballooning device as it was before the API
call, it was redefined as enabled. With this update, the REST API keeps the
state of the ballooning device intact when a user omits any information about it
in the incoming XML. (BZ#1155649)

  • Network interface hotplugging was disabled in the osinfo properties file

because it did not work in previous QEMU releases. This update changes the
osinfo properties file to allow hotplugging of network interfaces, and users can
now hotplug network interfaces in running virtual machines without the Engine
blocking it. (BZ#1155987)

  • Previously, when running the ImportVm command, Balloon device detection

functionality was missing, and a Ballon device was always reported as present in
a virtual machine. This caused the import process of a virtual machine to always
have ballooning enabled, and caused the import process to fail for architectures
that do not support ballooning. With this update, Balloon device detection was
enforced properly and checks all the devices present on a virtual machine. The
ImportVm command now properly detects if a balloon device is available.
(BZ#1155698)

Changes to the ovirt-engine-setup component:

  • Previously, during upgrades, if automatic firewall configuration with iptables

was selected, NFS server ports were closed off, and caused problems for NFS
storage domains. This bug fix updates the ovirt-engine-setup component so that
NFS status is checked before iptables configuration is generated. (BZ#1157678)
