Topic

Updated lvm2-cluster packages that fix several bugs are now available for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

Description

The lvm2-cluster packages contain support for Logical Volume Management (LVM) in
a clustered environment.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Incorrect validation of the clvmd daemon request could lead to a failure with

numerous error messages logged. This bug also caused considerable CPU
consumption, locking up all logical volume (LVM) commands due to false
interpretation of the requests and exhaustive logging. A set of patches has been
provided to improve the clvmd request validation, thus fixing the aforementioned
bug. (BZ#966283)

  • When one of the logical volume (LVM) client processes was killed, the clvmd

daemon had to wait for a mutual exclusion (mutex) to stop the LVM client thread.
Consequently, lvm utility commands in a cluster became indefinitely blocked.
This update introduces a patch which fixes the deadlock, and lvm utility
commands now work correctly. (BZ#1005408)

  • Due to a regression, the "clvmd -R" command failed to execute with the

following error message:

"EOF reading CLVMD"

The underlying source code has been fixed, and "clvmd -R" now works as intended.
(BZ#1025881)

Users of lvm2-cluster are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
fix these bugs.
