Updated hwcert-client-1.6.5 packages that fix bugs are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux Hardware Certification.

Description

The hwcert-client packages contain the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Hardware
Certification Test Suite which verifies the compatibility of hardware devices.
Each hwcert-client test run builds a results database for submission to the Red
Hat Hardware Catalog as an XML file. hwcert-client replaces v7 and the Red Hat
Hardware Test Suite (HTS) for certifying hardware for use with Red Hat
Enterprise Linux.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, support of the PulseAudio server for multiple High-Definition

Multi-media Interface (HDMI) devices per sound card was limited. As a
consequence, the HDMI audio output test did not always perform properly on
certain Intel and Nvidia configurations, such as the 4th Generation Intel Core
processors. This update adds support for multiple HDMI devices per sound card
for PulseAudio, and the HDMI audio output test now works as expected.

• Previously, when using the hwcert command to start the test, the Hardware

Certification Test Suite terminated unexpectedly before displaying the test
plan. This prevented running the Test Suite on a HP ProLiant DL580 Generation 8
hardware. This bug is now fixed and the Test Suite successfully displays the
test plan without crashing. (BZ#1122994)

• Previously, the hwcert-client packages required the hwcert-client-info package

to be the same version and release number or later as hwcert-client. This update
removes the unnecessary release requirement and hwcert-client now works with
hwcert-client-info packages of same version but different release. (BZ#1125411)

• Previously, the cpuscaling test failed with a traceback error on some systems

using AMD processors. This bug has been fixed and now the cpuscaling test
executes successfully. (BZ#1114543)

• Previously, the storage test did not include SD cards in the test plan. This

update adds SD cards to the test plan and also enables testing for devices which
have an "unknown" host. (BZ#1127393)

• Previously, the hwcert-backend tool did not support the integrated HDMI audio

test on certain audio devices. As a consequence, running the audio test could
fail with the following error message:

"Error: aplay command failed"

This bug has been fixed and tests now execute successfully on all devices.

Users of Hardware Certification Test Suite are advised to upgrade to these
updated packages, which fix this bug.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
