Updated cobbler and spacewalk packages that fix several bugs are now available
for Red Hat Satellite 5.6.

Description

Red Hat Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based infrastructures.
It allows for provisioning, remote management and monitoring of multiple Linux
deployments with a single, centralized tool.

This update fixes the following bug:

• When upgrading packages with the System Set Manager (SSM) and different

versions of the same package were available to different systems, only the
latest version of the package was updated. The related SSM pages have been
updated to correctly apply the selected versions of the packages wherever they
are applicable. (BZ#594455)

• When creating custom information for a system in the Satellite Web UI,

Satellite displayed a "delete value" link. If an administrator clicked the link
before saving the information, an Internal Server Error (ISE) occurred. The
Custom System Info page has been updated to not show the "delete value" link
when it is not applicable. (BZ#1082694)

• When provisioning systems with AMD64 or Intel 64 architectures, Satellite

sometimes incorrectly attempted to install the i386 version of the libxml2
package, resulting in an error in the kickstart logs. Satellite has been updated
to select the correct architecture for the libxml2 package. (BZ#1055571)

• An attempt to display the Extra Packages page could result in an ISE for

Satellite with several thousand of registered systems. This update improves
performance of this page, however the page is still unusable for Satellite with
extremely large number of systems. To allow users accessing this data in extreme
cases, the spacewalk-reports utility now provides a respective report.

• An attempt to display the SSM Errata page could result in an ISE, and an error

reporting that the errata list did not reflect the current selection was logged.
This update modifies the SSM Errata page to reflect the current selection
correctly. (BZ#1084220)

• Cobbler did not detect an IP address of a client. Consequently, if the client

tried to run any custom Cobbler triggers, it failed. This update corrects this
problem and clients now should be able to run Cobbler triggers as expected.

• Satellite did not initialize logging for asynchronous user actions properly.

This could result in a database error when using SSM to modify channel
membership, leaving the respective task to remain "In Progress" indefinitely. To
prevent this problem, Satellite now always initialize logging for asynchronous
user actions, however, any previously issued tasks have to be manually
re-issued. (BZ#1073120)

• Due to a performance bug in the SSM channel membership confirmation page, the

page requests on Satellites with large system sets could time out, resulting in
an ISE. The respective code has been updated and the aforementioned page now
displays as expected. (BZ#1077158)

• The rhn-entitlement-report tool could return a "NoneType is not iterable"

error if no entitlements of a particular type were found on Satellite. This
update ensures that rhn-entitlement-report report entitlements correctly in this
case. (BZ#1064497)

• When adding a "Virtualization" entitlement to a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

host, Satellite displayed a warning about a missing virtualization channel. With
this update, Satellite no longer shows this erroneous warning. (BZ#1044527)

• The systemgroup.listSystems() API method is very slow if a given system group

contains several thousand systems. This update improves performance of this
method and introduces a new API method, systemgroup.listSystemsMinimal(), which
returns less data but is faster. (BZ#1099948)

All users of Red Hat Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix these bugs.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.
