Updated hwcert-client-1.7 packages that fix one bug and add multiple
enhancements are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Hardware
Certification.

Description

The hwcert-client packages contain the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Hardware
Certification Test Suite which verifies the compatibility of hardware devices.
Each hwcert-client test run builds a results database for submission to the Red
Hat Hardware Catalog as an XML file. hwcert-client replaces v7 and the Red Hat
Hardware Test Suite (HTS) for certifying hardware for use with Red Hat
Enterprise Linux.

This update fixes the following bug:

• The storage test has been updated to use the XFS file system for testing.

In addition, this update adds the following enhancements:

• An optional test from the network subsection which uses the biosdevname

utility has been added to the hwcert-client packages. The test shows interface
naming, for example, Network Interface Cards (NIC) and their sources.

• Support for PCI device targets has been added to the "fv_storage" and

"fv_network" virtualization tests. Now, the hwcert-client application schedules
an additional test which configures and uses the PCI device. (BZ#1038234)

• The hwcert command now supports the creation of new specification and

certification entries within the Red Hat Hardware Catalog. After this update, if
a certification or hardware entry does not exist in the Catalog, the user can
create a new one. (BZ#1049798)

• The local test server web application now provides a link to e-mail test

results. The user can now send a selected result package to an e-mail address.
The sender's e-mail appears to the recipient as "hwcert-server@redhat.com".

• A new test for 40GB network adapters has been added to the hwcert-client

packages. (BZ#1073517)

• A new test for Wireless 802.11ac adapters has been added to the hwcert-client

packages. (BZ#1073541)

Users of Hardware Certification Test Suite are advised to upgrade to these
updated packages, which fix this bug and adds these enhancements.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
