Topic

Updated vdsm packages that fix a bug are now available.

Description

VDSM is a management module that serves as a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization
Manager agent on Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor or Red Hat
Enterprise Linux hosts.

All users managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux Virtualization hosts using Red Hat
Enterprise Virtualization Manager are advised to install these updated packages,
which fixes this issue.

These updated packages will be provided to users of Red Hat Enterprise
Virtualization Hypervisor in the next rhev-hypervisor6 errata package.

Changes to the vdsm component:

  • Virtual machines are no longer paused after migrations from 3.2 hypervisors to

3.3 hypervisors. (BZ#1074298)

  • Live migration operations now respect the 300 second limit, and live migration

operations continue for only 300 seconds. (BZ#1069220)

  • Removing a network no longer causes VDSM to take the main bond interface down.

Previously, removing a network caused VDSM to take the main bond interface down,
and that caused a short loss of communication for the networks using the bond
interface. The bond interface is put into a down state now only if it is meant
to stay down or be removed. (BZ#1072407)

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/11258

Affected Products

  • Red Hat Virtualization 3.3 x86_64
  • Red Hat Virtualization 3 for RHEL 6 x86_64

Fixes

  • BZ - 1061023 - KVM version miss in RHEVM 3.3 (when the host is RHEVH 6.5 20140121.0.el6ev)
  • BZ - 1069220 - migration_timeout not honoured, live migration goes on beyond it
  • BZ - 1072407 - The remove network action by vdsm causes the main bond interface to go down up
  • BZ - 1074298 - VMs are paused after migration from 3.2 to 3.3 hypervisor
