Topic

An updated ovirt-node package that fixes various bugs and contains a number of
enhancements is now available.

Description

The ovirt-node package provides the utilities and recipes used to create and
configure the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor ISO image.

Note: Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor is only available for the
Intel 64 and AMD64 architectures with virtualization extensions.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Automatic installation failed to set the hostname, DNS, and NTP parameters.

This was because the migration script was also run on first boot after a clean
installation. Now, the configuration version is set during installation, and
prevents migration runs when it is a fresh installation. As a result, the
hostname, DNS and NTP parameters can be set after automatic installation.
(BZ#1055558)

  • Upgrading the hypervisor did not retain some previously configured settings

including hostname, network, logging, and remote storage. All parameters are now
persisted in the TUI after an upgrade. (BZ#1055554)

  • The NVR of the hypervisor RPM and the contents of /etc/system-release did not

match, so the Manager prompted users to upgrade the hypervisor even when there
were no updates available. The version information in both locations now match,
so users are only prompted to upgrade when there are new versions available.
(BZ#1055553)

Users of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor are advised to upgrade
to this updated package, which corrects these issues and adds these
enhancements.

This ovirt-node package is included in the rhev-hypervisor6 package
associated with advisory [[INSERT-ADVISORY-DETAIL]]

Changes to the ovirt-node component:

  • SAM proxy passwords are now masked in the log, not shows as plaintext.

(BZ#971235)

  • syslinux-extlinux package has been added to the RHEV-H channel and edit-node

now works as expected. (BZ#1013828)

  • The upgrade path is now independent of the installation path and TUI-based

upgrades work. (BZ#1064394)

  • The total amount of available disk space is now shown to the user during

installation. (BZ#1063959)

  • A convert_to_biodevsname exception is no longer raised during booting.

(BZ#1063960)

  • Puppet clients now wait 60 seconds before timing out. (BZ#1063962)
  • All menu buttons consistently use "Continue". (BZ#1063963)
  • Hostname, DNS and NTP parameters can now be set after automatic installation.

(BZ#1063964)

  • /var/lib/puppet is now persisted, and puppet works after reboot. (BZ#1063965)
  • cim passwords set during auto-installation are now reported correctly in the

log. (BZ#1063966)

  • ovirt-node now uses the ovirt-node-selinux subpackage, improving runtime

rules. (BZ#1063967)

  • Installation codebase now has the same defaults as in RHEL 6.4, which allows

users to assume the same behavior as in RHEL 6.4. (BZ#1063969)

  • Proxy information for systems registered to SAM is shown correctly in the TUI.

(BZ#1063971)

  • The TUI now correctly shows that "SAM" and not "classic" was chosen during

auto-installation. (BZ#1064284)

  • The TUI reports that "You have not provided a new password" only when the user

does not specify a new password. (BZ#1063974)

  • RHN now reports proxy information for registered proxies. (BZ#1063976)
  • Upgrades of RHEV-H are now reflected on the RHN website. (BZ#1063986)
  • Updating RHEV-H via the ovirt-node-upgrade tool now works. (BZ#1063987)
  • The TUI no longer quits when you press "CTRL+C" twice. (BZ#1063988)
  • RHEV-H now installs on the disk selected by the user in the TUI. (BZ#1063989)
  • FQDN or IP Address for a proxy server can now be set in the TUI. (BZ#1063991)
  • It is now possible to remove the NFSv4 domain after it has been set.

(BZ#1063993)

  • All puppet-related configuration information is now deleted when users disable

puppet. (BZ#1063994)

  • The RHN web interface now displays the profile names of systems registered

with the SAM. (BZ#1063995)

  • Kdump can now be configured to use an ssh or nfs target. (BZ#1063997)
  • Bonds can now be created during auto-installation of RHEV-H. (BZ#1063972)
