Topic

Updated rhevm-guest-agent packages that fix several bugs are now available.

Description

The rhevm-guest-agent allows the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager to
receive internal guest events and retrieve information such as the IP address
and list of installed applications from the guest. Additionally the guest agent
allows the Manager to execute specific commands, such as shut down or reboot, on
guest virtual machines.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Previously there was an error in the log files of the rhevm-guest-agent when

users disconnected from the console accessing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 virtual
machines. This bug resolves this issue by supplying a script which was missing.
(BZ#923775)

  • Previously the removal of the /usr/share/ovirt-guest-agent folder failed on

removal of the rhevm-guest-agent. This was caused by symlinks which have not
been removed before there was an attempt to remove the folder. This has now been
fixed and the folder will be properly removed on removal of the
rhevm-guest-agent. (BZ#948173)

  • A syntax error in /usr/share/ovirt-guest-agent/GuestAgentLinux2.py was caused

by incompatibility with python 2.4, so the guest agent failed on Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5 guests. This error is fixed by rewriting the instances of
ternary operator "if" to be compatible with python 2.4. The syntax error no
longer occurs. (BZ#1006861)

Users of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization guest agents are advised to
install this updated rhevm-guest-agent package in their virtual machines.
