Updated Red Hat Satellite server packages that fix several bugs are now
available for Red Hat Satellite 5.6.

Description

Red Hat Satellite is a systems management tool for Linux-based infrastructures.
It allows for provisioning, remote management and monitoring of multiple Linux
deployments with a single, centralized tool.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Previously, Satellite web UI limited the number of processed search results

returned from the search server, and thus the Satellite web UI did not display
all matching package search results. To fix this bug, the limit has been
removed. Now, by default, Satellite web UI displays all matching package search
results. (BZ#738055)

• Prior to this update, it was possible to cancel the remote commands

scheduled from the Satellite system that were currently executed by the
client system. The cancelled action was not logged on the Satellite
system so it could not be audited later. The option to cancel a task
that is being executed by the client system has been removed, thus
fixing the bug. (BZ#844874)

• Previously, when reposync logs were rotated by the logrotate utility,

Satellite web UI displayed binary gzip (GNU zip) content on the Satellite web
UI. This bug has been fixed, and Satellite web UI now displays only text files
when displaying reposync logs. (BZ#1010205)

• Prior to this update, the channel.software.listPackagesWithoutChannel API call

could time out when using Red Hat Satellite 5.6 with the postgresql backend. The
appropriate query has been enhanced, and the API call no longer times out.
(BZ#1029066)

• Previously, Red Hat Satellite did not allow less than 3 character system

profile names. With this update, the above minimal length requirement has been
removed. (BZ#1030143)

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Anaconda installer requires at least 768 MB of RAM

to complete the installation. However, the default RAM allotment for virtual
machines used to be 512 MB in Satellite, so an attempt to provision a virtual
machine without adjusting the default RAM settings failed. To fix this bug, the
default RAM allotment has been set to 768 MB for the virtual machines, and
provisioning now works as expected. (BZ#1034774)

• Previously, in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, the packages contained in the core

package group were different from those packages in core in Red Hat Enterprise
Linux 6. However, certain packages, specifically "wget", "perl", and the "rhn"
client tools, were not installed by default during kickstart. Consequently,
later components of the kickstart utility that required these packages were not
installed. The necessary packages have been added to the list of packages that
are explicitly required for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 kickstarts, and kickstart
can now proceed normally with all of the package dependencies met. (BZ#1044547)

All users of Red Hat Satellite are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix these bugs.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

As a part of the fix for bug 1023669, after successful package update,
please clean search indexes of spacewalk-search service, by running
the following command as root:

service rhn-search cleanindex
