Topic

Updated rhel-guest-image packages that fix several bugs are now available for
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

Description

The rhel-quest-image packages provide a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 KVM Guest
Image for cloud instances. This image is provided as a minimally configured
system image which is available for use as-is or for configuration and
customization as required by end users.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Previously, the product certificate was missing causing an inability to

register and receive system updates. To fix this bug, the product certificate is
now correctly embedded during the image installation. (BZ#1045466)

  • Previously, the Bash shell default interaction prompt statement (PS) for \s

returned "-bash-4.1". This interactive prompt has been modified to be more
useful and informative, and the hostname is included in the prompt. (BZ#1045487)

  • Previously, in the /etc/shaddow file, the string "nope" was used as the

password hash, which was supposed to disable console login. The string has been
changed to the exclamation mark ("!") to explicitly disable root console login.
As a result, the console login is now denied while it is ensured that the system
is not using any default password hashes. (BZ#1045490)

  • With this update, the root file system of Red Hat Enterprise Linux guest

images (qcow2) has been increased in size. This increase does not affect the
qcow2 compressed image size, and allows more versatile use of the images.
(BZ#1045571)

Users of rhel-guest-image are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix these bugs.
