Topic

An updated rhn-upgrade package that fixes several bugs is now available for Red
Hat Satellite 5.6.

Description

Red Hat Satellite is a system management tool for Linux-based infrastructures.
It allows for the provisioning, remote management and monitoring of multiple
Linux deployments with a single, centralized tool.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Due to a bug in the recognize_guests.py upgrade helper script, virtual guests

information was not fully populated, resulting in errors on the virtual guest
when this information was being processed. This update corrects the
recognize_guests.py script so that virtual guests information is now fully
populated. (BZ#1029657)

  • The preparation.txt file has been updated to provide more detailed

instructions on how customers can verify a size of their DB's tablespace and how
to extend it. (BZ#1023513)

  • The satellite-and-os-upgrade-postgresql.txt file has been updated to provide

more detailed instructions on how customers can install the rhn-upgrade package
on their Satellite 5.6 machine. (BZ#1016799)

  • Due to a bug in the Satellite schema upgrade and migration to Red Hat

Satellite 5.6, an attempt to run the satellite-sync command could fail with a
unique constraint violation error after upgrading the Red Hat Satellite to
version 5.6. This bug could also prevent users from registering their Red Hat
Satellite clients. To fix this problem, the Satellite schema has been updated to
remove problematic data from the database. The synchronization process now
finishes successfully and users are able to register their Red Hat Satellite
clients as expected. (BZ#1024830)

All Users of Red Hat Satellite are advised to upgrade to this updated package,
which fixes these bugs.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

For instructions on upgrading Red Hat Satellite, please refer
to the /etc/sysconfig/rhn/satellite-upgrade/README file.

This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
