Topic

Updated nfs-utils packages that fix several bugs are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Update Support.

Description

The nfs-utils packages provide a daemon for the kernel Network File System (NFS)
server and related tools, which provides better performance than the traditional
Linux NFS server used by most users. These packages also contain the mount.nfs,
umount.nfs, and showmount programs.

This update fixes the following bugs:

  • Due to a regression, NFS4 mounts hung on clients with many exports to

netgroups. With an upstream patch that freed allocated memory, NFS4 mount works
correctly with large number of netgroups. (BZ#841668)

  • Due to a regression, the NFSv4 idmapper utility did not initialize correctly,

which lead to a creation of incorrect file permissions. With this update,
idmapper initializes as expected, creating correct file permissions. (BZ#855417)

  • Previously, there was a bug in the rpc.mountd daemon, which caused NFS3 mounts

to hung on clients. An upstream patch has been provided to fix this bug and
clients no longer hang in the described scenario. (BZ#856347)

Users of nfs-utils are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which fix
these bugs. After installing this update, the nfs service will be restarted
automatically.
