Topic

Updated openstack-cinder packages that fix several bugs and add enhancements are
now available for Red Hat OpenStack 3.0 (Grizzly) Preview.

Description

OpenStack Volume (Cinder) provides services to manage and access block storage
volumes for use by virtual machine instances.

These updated packages add these enhancements:

  • Cinder now supports specification of mount options for NFS and GlusterFS

volumes. These options will be used by Cinder and Nova when mounting the volume
exports and during "volume create" and "volume attach" operations.

In particular the ability to specify the backupvolfile-server mount option for
GlusterFS volumes enables mounting of a GlusterFS export even when the primary
volfile server node is unreachable. (BZ#957902)

  • Cinder now supports creation of NFS or GlusterFS backed Cinder volumes from

Glance images, and the creation Glance images from NFS or GlusterFS backed
volumes. (BZ#965279)

These updated packages fix these bugs:

  • Prior to this fix, when an administrator deleted a volume owned by a regular

user, the quota usage for the administrator's project was updated rather than
that for the user's project. (BZ#920366)

  • Previously Cinder did not declare its dependency on the qemu-img binary. As a

result on systems where qemu-img was not installed Cinder would install
correctly but volume creation from Glance images could fail. The Cinder
packaging has been updated to explicitly declare the dependency on the qemu-img
binary. (BZ#968106)

All users of Red Hat OpenStack 3.0 (Grizzly) Preview are advised to install
these updated packages.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
https://access.redhat.com/site/articles/11258

Documentation for both stable and preview releases of Red Hat OpenStack is
available at:

https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_OpenStack/

In particular it is highly recommended that all users read the Release Notes
document for the relevant Red Hat OpenStack release prior to installation.
