Topic

Updated symlinks packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.

Description

The symlinks utility is used for maintenance of symbolic links.

This update fixes the following bug:

  • On 32-bit systems, support for files larger than 2 GB was not enabled. This

caused failures when running the symlinks utility in directories containing
symbolic links to large files. This update enables large file support so that
the utility works as expected in this scenario. (BZ#578597)

All users of symlinks are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
fix this bug.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.

This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red
Hat Network to apply this update are available at
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/articles/11258
