Topic

Updated yum-metadata-parser packages that fix one bug are now available for Red
Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

Description

The yum-metadata-parser packages provide a fast metadata parser for Yum
implemented in C.

This update fixes the following bug:

  • If the primary.xml file contained malformed data, the yum-metadata-parser

utility terminated unexpectedly due to a NULL pointer dereference. The
underlying source code has been modified, so that yum-metadata-parser exits
gracefully with an error message in this scenario. (BZ#725798)

All users of yum-metadata-parser are advised to upgrade to these updated
packages, which fix this bug.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata relevant
to your system have been applied.

This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red
Hat Network to apply this update are available at
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/articles/11258
