Topic

Updated setroubleshoot packages that fix one bug are now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.

Description

The setroubleshoot packages provide tools to help diagnose SELinux problems.
When Access Vector Cache (AVC) messages are generated, an alert can be displayed
that provides information about the problem and helps track its resolution.
Alerts are user-configurable. The same tools can be run on existing log files.

This update fixes the following bug:

  • Due to a memory leak in the rpm underlying code, the setroubleshoot tool

consumed extensive memory resources. This update applies a patch that reduces
memory consumption significantly, however, the problem has not been fixed
completely and has to be resolved in the rpm utility. (BZ#789143)

All users of setroubleshoot are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix this bug.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-11259
