Topic

An updated anaconda package that fixes several bugs and adds various
enhancements is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.

Description

The anaconda package contains portions of the Anaconda installation program that
can be run by the user for reconfiguration and advanced installation options.

Bug fixes:

  • Issues with "interactive" mode partitioning are fixed. (BZ#641861)
  • The network command is parsed correctly. (BZ#731274)
  • The /boot partition on EFI systems is handled correctly. (BZ#689996)
  • Files that are necessary for libreport and SSL installation mode have been

added. (BZ#705274)

  • Symbolic links to LVM commands have been added to the rescue image.

(BZ#676404)

  • The /sbin/cio_ignore command is added to initrd.img for IBM System z.

(BZ#730650)

  • Support for dracut-style "rdloaddriver=" and "rdblacklist=" parameters is

added. (BZ#689029)

  • Support for static addresses in "ipv6=" is added. (BZ#679108)
  • A testing framework for stub commands is added. (BZ#706099)
  • Driver disks support multiple kernel versions and are also built for Red Hat

Enterprise Linux 6.0 and 6.1. (BZ#699745)

  • Network connection is brought up before saving a bug report. (BZ#668570)
  • Errors in .treeinfo are detected. (BZ#715130)
  • The xhost authentication is changed when performing live installation.

  • Debugging improvements in loader and package installation code have been made.

  • The dialog box focus and initialization have been corrected. (BZ#679810)
  • The iSCSI Login button is disabled when no nodes are selected. (BZ#701220)
  • When a mount point is set to /boot, the file system type is no longer changed.

  • Extended partitions are handled correctly. (BZ#698429)
  • Handling of "network --device=bootif" is corrected. (BZ#681803)
  • Centering of the Anaconda window when an external display is present is

corrected. (BZ#750764)

  • Encrypted device lines written to kickstart files are corrected. (BZ#605938)
  • zFCP multipath devices can be added in the user interface as expected.

  • iSCSI discovery that returns no devices is handled correctly. (BZ#732380)
  • Systems with more than 2147483647 kB of memory are handled properly.

  • The header image is hidden on all but 800x600 displays. (BZ#712487)
  • The "noprobe" parameter for driver disks is honored. (BZ#690058)
  • The "linksleep=" boot parameter is honored. (BZ#713991)
  • Installation sources (including NFS ISO storages) are mounted correctly.

  • Processes in the anaconda process group are killed when the system is shut

  • Partitioning alignment is corrected. (BZ#693271)
  • Progress indicator improvements for device discovery and command line mode

have been made. (BZ#616641)

  • Kickstart network failures and device name collisions are handled properly.

  • The "crashkernel=" parameter in a kickstart file is handled properly.

  • Support for the "ext4migrate" parameter has been removed. (BZ#712195)
  • The language and keyboard selection screens are now skipped in stage2 when

possible. (BZ#706675)

  • Device capacity values are sorted as numbers, not characters. (BZ#614504)
  • Swap partitions are handled correctly. (BZ#695740)
  • The "--target" option is used in kickstart files for iSCSI devices.

  • Various multipath and raid storage bugs are fixed. (BZ#701371, BZ#696876,

BZ#674241, BZ#734374, BZ#729716)

  • Anaconda verifies that devices specified with "part" can be partitioned.

Enhancements:

  • Vendor-provided tools on driver disks are now allowed. (BZ#659790)
  • The initrd.img file is compressed with LZMA. (BZ#694198)
  • The "noverifyssl" boot parameter is added. (BZ#696696)
  • The tboot package is configured when it is installed. (BZ#697419)
  • Multipath device can now be specified using WWID. (BZ#709653)

Users of anaconda should upgrade to this updated package, which fixes these bugs
and adds these enhancements.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
