Updated koan and spacewalk-koan packages that fix various bugs are now
available.

Description

Red Hat Network Tools provide client programs and libraries that allow your
system to use provisioning, monitoring, and configuration management
capabilities provided by Red Hat Network and Red Hat Network Satellite.

This update fixes the following bugs:

• Due to an error in the spacewalk-koan package, an attempt to provision a

virtual guest with a block device as a disk drive caused the rhn_check utility
to terminate unexpectedly with a traceback. With this update, this error no
longer occurs and users are now able to provision such virtual guests as
expected. (BZ#687850)

• When parsing the /etc/resolv.conf configuration file, the previous version of

the spacewalk-koan package did not permit extra spaces after a nameserver's IP
address. Consequently, an attempt to perform kickstart installation by using the
"Static Interface" option failed with a traceback. This update adapts
spacewalk-koan to tolerate extra spaces after nameserver's IP address so that
such kickstart installations no longer fail. (BZ#691417)

• Previously, an attempt to provision a virtual machine with a logical volume as

a disk drive caused koan to fail with a traceback. This error has been fixed,
and provisioning of a virtual machine in the aforementioned scenario now works
correctly. (BZ#708347)

• On x86 architectures, previous versions of koan did not allow kernel boot

parameters to be longer than 256 bytes, even though the kernel itself supports
it. Consequent to this, it was impossible to provision or re-provision a machine
if its kernel boot parameters exceeded this limit. This update adapts koan to
increase this limit to 2048 bytes, resolving this issue. (BZ#728268)

• Prior to this update, the spacewalk-koan package was unable to determine the

IP address of a system that was using a non-English locale. Consequent to this,
an attempt to perform kickstart installation on such a system would fail with a
traceback. This update applies a patch that ensures that IP addresses can now be
determined on all systems regardless of their current locale. (BZ#736066)

Users of Red Hat Network Tools are advised to upgrade to these updated packages,
which fix these bugs.

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.
