Topic

An updated bootparamd package that fixes one bug is now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.

Description

Bootparamd is a server utility that provides information needed by diskless
clients to boot. It consults the /etc/bootparams file for the required
information.

This update fixes the following bug:

  • Previously, the bootparamd utility did not convert network byte order

(big-endian) to host byte order (little-endian on Linux and x86 platforms).
Consequently, the sort functionality of a router's IP addresses did not work
correctly because the ulong_compare() function compared values in reverse order.
This bug has been fixed, and sorting now works properly in the described
scenario. (BZ#729306)

All users of bootparamd are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
fixes this bug.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
