Topic

Updated blktrace packages that fix numerous bugs are now available.

Description

The blktrace packages contain a number of utilities to record the I/O trace
information for the kernel to user space, and utilities to analyze and view
the trace information. This includes: blktrace (to extract event traces
from the kernel); blkparse (to produce formatted output of event streams);
blkiomon (for i/o monitoring, periodically generating per-device request
size and request latency statistics, and providing histograms); btreplay
(for recreating IO loads recorded by blktrace); and btt (to analyze block
i/o traces produces by blktrace).

These updated blktrace packages include numerous bug fixes. Space precludes
documenting all of these changes in this advisory. Users are directed to
the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 Technical Notes for information on the
most significant of these changes:

https://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/6.1_Technical_Notes/index.html

All blktrace users are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which
addresses the bugs noted in the Technical Notes.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via the Red Hat Network. Details on how to
use the Red Hat Network to apply this update are available at
https://access.redhat.com/kb/docs/DOC-11259
