Topic

An updated autofs package that fixes a bug is now available for Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 5.

Description

The autofs utility controls the operation of the automount daemon. The automount
daemon automatically mounts file systems when you use them, and unmounts them
when they are not busy.

This updated autofs package fixes the following bug:

  • By default, Windows Active Directory servers restrict the number of results

that can be retrieved by a single query. If a query returns more than the
maximum number of results (1000 by default), the query fails. In such a case,
the server returns the results in sets of a specific size (maximum result set
size). The automount daemon crashed due to a segmentation fault when it
attempted to read a map that contained more results than the maximum result set
size. With this update, the automount daemon correctly reads results from larger
maps and a segmentation fault no longer occurs. (BZ#691311)

All users of autofs are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which
resolves this issue.

Solution

Before applying this update, make sure that all previously-released errata
relevant to your system have been applied.

This update is available via Red Hat Network. Details on how to use the Red Hat
Network to apply this update are available at
